The Work Is Finished — Now Take What Christ Secured

Jesus already secured your healing; the issue is not God’s willingness but our willingness to believe, resist unbelief, and take what Christ has finished.

THE “Healing Promise"

I began this message which I called Healing Promise which is the good news: By Jesus’ stripes, you have already been healed. Not “will be,” not “might be,” not “if you pray hard enough.” Already.

But for many believers, that promise is over looked and the first thing they do is post it in social media. I was in the emergency room a couple of weeks ago and the CT Scan showed an abscess with a mass pressing against my prostate. I am blessed to be married to an intercessor. And we both listen to the diagnoses and give it to God. Many choose the opposite and let everyone know, but truth is we already have learned that even a relative will believe the worst, and then tend to call everyone confessing the worst. Please understand: God has already done His part. There is nothing left for Him to do. The next move is ours.

Most Christians wait passively, asking God to heal them, hoping He might decide to act. But healing works the same way salvation works — you take it by faith, not beg for it in fear.

1. HEALING WAS FINISHED AT THE CROSS

1 Peter 2:24 (ESV)

“…By his wounds you have been healed.”

Peter doesn’t speak in future tense. He anchors healing in the completed work of Christ. Jesus is not still paying for sin, and He is not still paying for sickness. Both were settled at the cross.

Healing is not earned by good works, long fasts, or spiritual performance. It is offered to whosoever will — the same way salvation is.

If forgiveness is already yours, healing is already yours. Same cross. Same Christ. Same grace.

2. RECEIVING HEALING WORKS LIKE RECEIVING SALVATION

Acts 16:31 (ESV)

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved…”

The jailer wasn’t told to beg God for forgiveness. He was told to believe. Salvation is received — not pleaded for. Healing follows the same pattern.

I heard this childhood story several times: a man held out a dollar to a group of kids. Everyone wanted it, but only one climbed up his arm and took it. Wanting is not taking. Desire is not receiving.

Confessing Scripture is not bribing God. It is reprogramming your mind to agree with what He already finished.

3. UNBELIEF — NOT WEAK FAITH — BLOCKS HEALING

Numbers 13 (ESV)

“We are not able… for they are stronger than we are.”

The ten spies saw giants, walled cities, and their own weakness. Their unbelief didn’t change God’s promise — it only changed their ability to receive it.

Rahab later revealed that the Canaanites’ hearts had already melted. Israel lost a victory that was already theirs.

Today, believers face a modern version of the ten spies:

  • fear‑based commercials on social media

  • endless news cycles

  • symptom‑googling (hello!)

  • worst‑case medical scenarios

It’s the ten‑spies network, and it drenches us in unbelief.

Unbelief is like smoke around Pike’s Peak. The mountain never moves, but the smoke obscures your view. God’s promise stands firm; unbelief simply blinds us to it.

4. RENEW YOUR MIND & RESIST SICKNESS

Romans 12:2 (ESV)

“Be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”

Transformation happens when your mind is renewed by the Word — not by feelings, symptoms, or cultural fear.

James 4:7 (ESV)

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Passive hoping is not resistance. Resistance is active. It speaks. It stands. It refuses.

Ephesians 4 says, “Be angry and do not sin.” Apply that to sickness. Develop righteous hostility toward disease. Hate it the way you hate sin. Jesus carried it; you don’t have to tolerate it.

Practical steps:

  • Mute fear‑based commercials.

  • Stop googling symptoms.

  • Speak healing Scriptures daily.

  • See yourself as the healed whom Satan is trying to make sick — not the sick trying to get healed.

Remember that those out of your inner circle of trusted friend go by what has happened they've heard or seen in the past. They can't see yet what Jesus has done for us.

5. STOP WAITING — TAKE YOUR HEALING TODAY

Israel waited for God to act when God had already spoken. Many believers do the same with healing. But the call of Scripture is simple: Take what Christ has finished.

Healing is not a future event. It is a present inheritance.

Renew your mind. Shut out unbelief. Resist the devil. Hate sickness. Stand on the finished work of Christ.

APPLICATION

HEAD

Healing was completed at the cross. Lack of results stems from unbelief — not lack of divine power.

HEART

Cultivate righteous anger toward sickness and deep confidence in God’s unchanging promise.

HANDS

  • Cut off “ten‑spies” inputs.

  • Speak healing Scriptures daily.

  • Resist symptoms immediately with the Word.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • Do you approach healing the way you approached salvation — by taking, not begging?

  • What voices most feed unbelief in your life?

  • How can you replace those voices with God’s Word this week?

  • When symptoms arise, what does resisting the devil look like for you?

  • How might righteous hostility toward sickness change your prayers?

PRAYER

Father, thank You that through Jesus’ stripes You have already provided our healing. Open our eyes to see finished grace and expose every strand of unbelief clouding our minds. Renew our thoughts with Your Word, strengthen our resistance against the enemy, and teach us to hate the sickness You carried away. We receive, right now, the health Jesus purchased, and we give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
